 Monkeypox is an illness caused by the monkeypox virus. zoonotic virus in the genus Orthopoxvirus


Monkeypox is a rare infection. It's mainly spread by wild animals in parts of west or central Africa.The rash often begins on the face, then spreads to other parts of the body.


 Transmission can occur through exposure to infected body fluids, contaminated objects, by small droplets and possibly the airborne route .he disease can resemble chickenpoxmeasles and smallpox but is distinguished by the presence of swollen glands

What are the signs and symptoms of monkeypox?


  • Fever.
  • Headache.
  • Muscle aches and backache.
  • Swollen lymph nodes ("swollen glands").
  • Chills.
  • Exhaustion.

How do you prevent monkeypox virus?

  • Avoid contact with infected animals (especially sick or dead animals).
  • Avoid contact with bedding and other materials contaminated with the virus.
  • Thoroughly cook all foods that contain animal meat or parts
    • Do not touch their rash or scabs.
    • Do not kiss, hug, cuddle, or have sex with them.
    • Do not share eating utensils or cups with them.
  • Do not touch the bedding, towels, or clothing of a person who has monkeypox.
  •  Dont live with people who have developed monkeypox
  • Dont work around people who have monkeypox
  • Avoid  travelling  to a country where monkeypox is more common
  • received a bite or scratch from infected animals
  • After the fever develops, a rash usually appears 1 to 3 days later. The rash typically affects the:

    • face, which is the most common site
    • palms of the hands
    • soles of the feet
    • mouth
    • genital

    • Transmission can also happen through:
    • bites and scratches from infected animals
      • eating the meat of an infected animal
      • contact with a contaminated item, like bedding
      • ouching clothing, bedding or towels used by someone with the monkeypox rash
      • touching monkeypox skin blisters or scabs
      • the coughs or sneezes of a person with the monkeypox rash
